Identifying Guilty Dogs Thru DNA
Human and fellow animal attacking dogs can now be easily traced using the newest DNA technology which will be issued to local councils by the New South Wales government in Australia.
The pack includes a DNA collection swabs, gloves and tamper-proof evidence bags will enable council rangers to collect DNA from a dog’s saliva, blood, hair or faeces and send it away for testing.
Paul Lynch, a minister of a local government said in a statement that the community expects to be protected from dangerous dogs.
“NSW has the toughest dog laws in Australia, giving councils greater powers to keep dangerous dogs off the streets.”
Owners of attacking dogs faces a maximum penalty of $55,000 or two years imprisonment.
