Skype’s Internet TV Service
A global internet-based television service called “Joost” was unfold by Skype.
Currently undergoing private beta tests, they claimed that Joost combines the best of TV and the best of Internet by offering viewers a unique, TV-like experience enhanced with the choice, control, and flexibility of Web 2.0.
“We have received positive and constructive feedback from our early beta-testers, and are now at a stage where we are ready to reveal our true brand. The Joost name has global appeal, embodies fun and energy, and will come to define the best of TV and the best of the Internet,” Fredrik de Wahl, Chief Executive Officer of Joost earlier said.
It is powered by a secure, efficient, piracy-proof Internet platform that enables premium interactive video experiences, while guaranteeing copyright protection for content owners and creators.
Joost can be accessed with a broadband Internet connection, and offers broadcast-quality content to viewers for free as they team up with team up with content providers such as Warner Music, TV production company Endemol, UK-based September films and US-based Indy Racing League.
The service will be launched when all three come together, and the company is expecting this to happen in the first half of 2007.
that Joost service seems pretty exciting. I hope there won’t be adult issues there. And also from the looks of it, won’t that be expensive? Maybe that would be the end of cable television.
